Tailor-Made MDF Bookshelf
Lennox Street sits in the heart of Canonmills, just a short stroll from Inverleith Park and the Water of Leith Walkway. It’s a peaceful, well-connected part of Edinburgh, with classic tenements and period flats that often hide beautifully crafted interiors.
We’d already completed a full redecoration of this client’s home, and they invited us back to finish something special—a bespoke MDF bookshelf designed and built by A.J. Milne Bespoke Carpentry. Our role was to prepare and paint it to perfection so it would feel like a natural part of the living room, blending seamlessly with the existing décor.
Precision Prep for a Seamless Look
We started with careful preparation—filling and sanding all surfaces before priming with Tikkurila Otex Adhesion Primer. To ensure a clean working environment, we used an industrial extractor to control dust and maintain a high-quality finish throughout.
Colour-Matched Perfection
After a final sanding, we applied two coats of Tikkurila Everal Aqua Matt [10]. The paint was colour-matched to the walls (Farrow & Ball Au Lait), allowing the bookshelf to blend effortlessly into the room.
Refined Results
The end result was a subtle but striking addition—built and finished to feel like part of the original space. The client was thrilled with how well the bookshelf tied the room together.
