Major Bedroom Wall Repairs & Interior Painting in Broomhouse Loan, Edinburgh

The Challenge

This Broomhouse Loan bedroom needed careful preparation before it could be decorated, with loose plaster, cracks, uneven surfaces and a damaged area below the window all needing to be repaired properly before wallpaper and paint were applied.

Our Approach

1. The team first protected the new window, frame and sill, then cleaned and sanded the walls and ceiling to remove loose material.
2. Loose plaster was removed from the damaged wall and the surface was sealed with Zinsser Gardz before deeper repairs were built back up with bonding plaster.
3. The repaired wall was skimmed and sanded to create a smoother surface ready for lining and decorating.
4. Ceiling cracks were raked out, taped, filled and sanded, with minor cracks and holes repaired throughout the room.
5. The walls were crosslined with Wallrock fibre liner before the customer-supplied paste-the-wall wallpaper was hung, then the ceiling was painted in white matt emulsion and the skirting boards were prepared, primed and finished in white eggshell.

The Result

The room was brought back from rough, uneven surfaces to a clean, smooth and fully decorated bedroom. The repaired walls now give the wallpaper a sound base, while the fresh ceiling and white eggshell woodwork complete a neat, professional finish.
