A living room in Meggetland, Craiglockhart — a lived-in Edinburgh home in need of a refresh. The client wanted a simple but effective update to modernise the space, centred on a single feature wall with a brand-new patterned wallpaper.
As straightforward as a one-wall job sounds, the technical bar was high. The existing wallpaper had to come off cleanly, the surface underneath had to be perfectly smooth, and the new patterned paper — hung on a half-drop offset — had to align exactly across every seam. Any imperfection in preparation or pattern matching would be visible the moment the room was back in use.

Strip-Out and Surface Prep
The existing wallpaper was carefully removed from the feature wall. Minor cracks and holes were raked out, filled, and sanded to create a completely smooth base — the single most important step for a flawless wallpapered finish.
Wallpapering
Paste applied directly to the wall using the paste-the-wall method. The new paper was hung on a half-drop offset pattern, with each length carefully positioned to match precisely across every seam. Joins and edges were checked and smoothed for a clean, professional result.
Final Tidy
The room was fully cleaned down and left ready to use — no dust, no scraps, no disruption.
