Exterior Woodwork Restoration & Painting Project in Edinburgh

The Client’s Requirements

The client wanted the property’s external timber detailing restored and repainted to a high professional standard. Years of exposure had left areas of paint deteriorated, so the goal was a crisp finish that improved the appearance of the house and protected the timber for the longer term.

The work included timber gables, soffits, fascias and eaves across the front, rear and side elevations.

The Challenge

Much of the woodwork was positioned at high level, so safe access was essential. The extension roof meant scaffold access was needed for certain sections, and the surrounding landscaped garden required careful protection while ladders and equipment were positioned.

As with all durable exterior decorating work, the finish depended on detailed preparation before any coating was applied.

Our Approach

1. Inspected every section of external timber before work began.
2. Scraped away loose and flaking paint.
3. Raked out, filled and repaired cracks and damaged areas.
4. Sanded and cleaned the timber to create a sound surface.
5. Primed exposed bare timber before applying two full coats of Jotun Demidekk Cleantech.
6. Protected surrounding plants, paths and exterior features throughout the project.

The Result

The completed project refreshed the appearance of the property while giving the timber robust protection against moisture, UV exposure and changing Scottish weather. The freshly painted fascias, soffits, gables and eaves now frame the house cleanly and complement the stonework and light render.
