The Challenge
This charming West End cottage was beginning to show the effects of the Scottish weather. The windows, entrance door, sills, surrounds and coated stonework all needed careful attention before repainting so the final finish would protect the property as well as improve its kerb appeal.
Our Approach
- Scraped away loose and flaking paint from the exterior woodwork and masonry.
- Raked out, filled and sanded minor cracks, holes and deteriorated areas.
- Cleaned and prepared the front and rear windows, sills, entrance door and external frame.
- Primed the woodwork for strong adhesion before applying a durable exterior gloss system.
- Stabilised weakened masonry surfaces and finished the surrounds, ledges and entrance step in quality exterior masonry paint.
The Result
The cottage exterior now looks fresh, clean and well protected. The restored woodwork has a crisp finish, the bright masonry lifts the frontage, and the traditional character of the property is much clearer from the street. Most importantly, the exterior is now better protected against future weather exposure.
