The Challenge
A family home on a quiet street near Gyle Park in west Edinburgh. One small but persistent issue: a cupboard door that stuck out awkwardly, breaking the clean lines of the room. The client wanted a solution that looked intentional and stylish — not just a cover-up.
The door still needed to open and close, so whatever we installed had to conceal it visually while maintaining full access.
Our Approach
Design and Measurement
We proposed an oak-effect acoustic slat wall panel that would conceal the door while letting it open and close normally. We removed the door architrave and a section of skirting, took precise measurements, and ordered the panels to fit.
Installation
The slatted panels were carefully installed with perfect alignment and a seamless finish. Every slat needed to line up across the wall surface, including where the hidden door sits. The result is a clean, modern feature that gives nothing away.
The Result
The cupboard door is now hidden in plain sight — completely discreet and fully accessible. The oak-effect slats add modern texture and warmth to the room, turning what was an awkward corner into a genuine design feature. A clever, practical solution that looks like it was always the plan.
