Ceiling Repairs and Hallway Redecoration in Central Edinburgh
Careful ceiling and wall repairs in an Edinburgh flat, with fresh decoration and the original cornice and timber doors retained.
The Challenge
The hallway ceiling needed its existing covering stripped before repairs could begin. Cracked walls, previous patch repairs and water staining around the cornice also needed attention, alongside a wall around an adjoining doorway and the bathroom.
Our Approach
- Protected the working areas and stripped the hallway ceiling covering.
- Opened up cracks, filled and sanded damaged areas, using scrim tape and lining paper where required.
- Repaired the cornice area and sealed remaining water staining before painting.
- Finished the cornice in white matt and the ceiling and specified walls in magnolia, matching the existing decoration as closely as possible.
- Prepared and painted the bathroom with Zinsser Perma-White, then sanded and re-varnished one side of its timber door in Antique Pine satin.
The Result
The repaired surfaces have a clean, even finish, while the period cornice and timber doors remain part of the flat. The hallway ceiling received the preparation it needed before repainting, and the bathroom was finished with paint suited to a moisture-prone room.
